  3. It's a shame the format and presentation of this programme has altered so dramatically. Dick Starwbridge in my opinion is not the right person for the presenting role and his cronies are not the 'experts' or persons of the calibre we have come to expect from this programme. Won't be watching anymore :(

  5. Great change in format. The precious format was becoming tired, and very contrived, as it necessitated planting the right parts in the scrapheap. This brings back the magic that was there before the first format change.

  6. As a diehard follower of programming of this genre, my observation is negative. Colonel Dick is a good contestant, with plenty of exuberance; one has to remember this exuberance needs a little moderation when hosting. My welder is at half mast to mourn the passing of a good show.

  7. I am sorry but I think you have made a bad mistake changing the presenters, format and therefore the spirit of the game. I have no idea what the game is all about anymore. We will not be watching anymore, we really used to enjoy it but no more.

  8. I agree with John. Dick Strawbridge is the man of the moment in shows like this at the moment, as well as an old "scrapper" himself. But why change the format as well? I have been a scrapheap watcher since series 1 and the format still worked. Not this..."beat the expert" style. I don't mind the new presenters at all, Bobby Llew said himself he wanted to move onto something else. Hopefully though channel4 will see that maybe a couple of specials in the old style will be worth making. Or another scrappy races at least. The big question is, who is driving this? C4 said they were stopping scrapheap completely. Maybe they have realised that they only have Time Team and Scrapheap Challenge left worth watching?

  9. What on earth has happened to Scrapheap Challenge? I have absolutely loved watching this programme over the years, but this new series is seriously horrendous. Please can we have less of the family interviews which are of no relevance whatsoever to the end product. Can we have these replaced with comments from a weekly 'expert' again please? And can someone please tell Dick Strawbridge and his team to CALM DOWN. Not sure if it's first series nerves or what - but at the moment it's something more akin to a Carry On Comedy programme than Scrapheap Challenge Roadshow. Rob and Lisa were a bit madcap, but it didn't detract from the programme. Dick and his team are just absolutely hyper - like a set of school children let loose on a day out - and it is completely spoiling the whole thing. The problem is, he is just NOT funny. He's good on Coast as a serious presenter, but NOT funny on this. I was watching a re-run of Scrapheap Roadshow the other day, which is basically what this series is built around, and it was brilliant. However, this series is not. You have 'lost' something here Channel 4 - not sure if it's the host, no chemisty between the presenters, the stupid and inane way Dick goes on, trying to turn it into a comedy show instead of a science show - but you need to work on regaining the essence back - VERY QUICKLY. I never used to miss this programme, but at the moment I'm becoming very tired of it very quickly. I'm just so thankful there are repeats of SC on Discovery Science every evening. I watch them time and again and still enjoy them even though I may know the outcome. Now what does that tell you?
