Frank Moses (Bruce Willis) quickly becomes all too familiar with the acronym RED - Retired, Extremely Dangerous - when his former CIA bosses send a crack squad to kill their best-ever hitman. But the extremely dangerous retiree proves more than a match for them.
Realising the Agency won't give up so easily, he goes on the run and abducts, for her own safety, Sarah Ross (Mary-Louise Parker), the pension worker he's fallen in love with over the phone.
Still in the dark as to exactly why his country wants him dead, Moses sets out to find out, gathering around him a group of equally ageing-but-deadly friends and associates (Mirren, Freeman, Malkovich and Cox).
Can the wily old foxes evade, overcome and/ or outgun the crème de la crème of a new generation's black ops people, led by William Cooper (Karl Urban), to discover the truth?
What follows is a non-stop onslaught of witty one-liners, gunshots, explosions... and a masterclass in knowing acting. Directed by Robert Schwentke (The Time Traveler's Wife).
