The explosive opening episode finds Gordon in Plainfield, New Jersey, trying to save a floundering soul food restaurant called Blackberry's.
He clashes with indomitable owner Shelley, who runs her establishment with an iron fist and doesn't want to hear what Gordon has to say.
Shelley's refusal to deal with the truth about the restaurant's problematic decor and equipment reaches fever pitch when Gordon discovers a dead mouse in the doorway.
Gordon must find a way to break through to Shelley and convince her to change her ways if the restaurant is going to stand a chance.
