Mark Corrigan is a man on a knife edge.
Anal with a hint of OCD, his glass is not so much half-full as fully empty. He probably spilt it himself. Living with his old university pal Jez in the dilapidated Apollo House, he faces up to one crushing defeat after another, very much like his spiritual inspiration (and much-loved Nazi traitor) General Friedrich Paulus.
The single beacon of hope preventing Corrigan from dashing his life onto the rocks below is his love for colleague Sophie. Despite their courtship starting badly, and then getting worse, she remains the best thing in his otherwise hopeless trajectory. But have they got enough juice in the tank to go the distance?
