Just as the Amish people all chip in together when it's time to build a barn, so the guys at the motel all help out when it's time to wax Wilma's moustache. And it's while Earl is looking at the hair stuck on the wax strip that he realises he needs to move on to Number 91 - Made Fun of Maggie Lester.
Maggie was a new student from a broken background who only lasted a couple of months because of Earl's continual taunts about her facial hair. Twenty years later, she's gone from having some downy fluff on her top lip to being the bearded lady in Witzel's Travelling Circus.
She's happy, and doesn't need Earl to do anything for her, but when he and Randy leave her house to discover Maggie lives in a town of circus freaks Earl realises what should come next.
He's always made fun of those a little different so he decides to get to know the people behind the differences, and in doing so he lays a few demons of his own. It's just a shame Joy isn't as sympathetic when she meets her court-appointed lawyer - who's deaf.
