Director Piers Sanderson is getting married, but he is feeling nervous. As the product of a particularly painful divorce, he is keen not to put his own children through what he experienced as a small child. He is also aware that his parents' divorce makes his own chances of success statistically less likely.
The only positive role models for marriage when he was growing up were his grandparents, who stayed together for over 60 years. Unfortunately they have passed away, but when he searched their private papers he came across a book called Marriage Technique Illustrated . Printed in 1945, it is a manual to marriage that appears out of step with today's attitudes, but Piers wonders whether there is some valuable information within its pages.
After all, his grandparents must have kept this book for 60 years for a reason...
