Series Summary
N.K. Edwards and Vijay Shah have long been rivals - vying against each other for business, prestige and power. Even their offices are opposed, standing defiantly opposite each other across a London high street.
Holding them in check is Judith Silver, the feisty Labour leader of the council, who has to contend with their bickering as well as corruption and bigotry in the council chamber and the constant jibes and unsolicited advice of her Jewish mother.
On the other side is Edward Feathers, the sinister and corrupt Tory leader who is always ready to exploit the rivalry for his own ends. Crooked and racist, Feathers sees himself as a natural wit - others see him as a poisonous joker.
