If your family is involved with or require social care services, the Family Rights Group can help and advise you on the care and protection of children. Call their free information line 0808 801 0366 (Monday to Friday, 10am to 3.30pm).

Parentline Plus offer help and support to anyone in a parenting role. Call 0808 800 22 22 (free, confidential 24 hours a day). They also provide an email helpline for the times when it's easier to write than talk. Just send to parentsupport@parentlineplus.org.uk.

Gingerbread run an information service for single parents on a variety of issues including childcare, benefits and legal rights. Call 0800 018 5026 for advise (free, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, Wednesday 9am to 8pm). You can also order The Young Mum's Guide on the website.

Working Families provide advice and information for working parents on a low income and parents trying to get into work. This includes advice on benefits and tax credits that you may be eligible for. Call their free helpline for low income families 0800 013 0313 (Monday to Friday 10am to 3pm, closing at 1pm on Wednesdays).

Information and advice on pregnancy, childbirth and postnatal care is available to all parents and parents-to-be from The National Childbirth Trust. The Pregnancy and Birth line 0870 444 8709 for expectant Mums and Dads (Monday to Friday 9am to 2pm). Find out more about what the NCT has to offer and find local support groups on their website.

The NCT Enquiry Line can help you with any concerns on 0870 444 8707 (Monday to Thursday 9am to 5pm, Friday 9am to 4pm).

Sense CDs has CDs on a number of issues including teenagers and pregnancy.

If you're under the age of 25, think you might be pregnant, and need to talk to someone about what to do next, contact Ask Brook on 0808 802 1234 (free, confidential Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm), for information that helps young women to make the choice that's right for them.

Brook also offer confidential information about sexual health and contraception. Brook run a text help service, just text brook help to 81222. If you visit their website you'll find lots of useful information as well as the opportunity to ask a confidential question by email.

The FPA offer information and advice on a range of issues including contraception, planning a pregnancy, abortion and male and female sexual health.Callers can discuss their options to enable a choice that's right for them, or they can find out about their nearest clinic by calling 0845 122 8690 (Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm). If you're in Northern Ireland phone 0845 122 8687 (Monday to Thursday 9am to 5pm, Friday 9am to 4.30pm).

BPAS - British Pregnancy Advisory Service provide telephone support and information to help women make their own decisions on preventing pregnancy or ending an unwanted pregnancy. Call 08457 30 40 30 (Monday to Friday 8am to 9pm, Saturday 8.30am to 6pm, Sunday 9.30am to 2.30pm). BPAS also run consultation centres and clinics throughout the UK. You can find out about these and get a lot of information at the website.

The 24 Hour National Domestic Violence Helpline (www.womensaid.org.uk or www.refuge.org.uk) is for women experiencing physical, emotional or sexual violence in the home. They provide advice, information and support. Callers can be referred to local refuges and emergency and temporary accommodation on 0808 2000 247(free, confidential and open 24 hours a day). The Helpline is a member of Language Line and can provide access to an interpreter for non-English speaking callers. The Helpline can also access the BT Type Talk Service for deaf callers.

The Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre offer support and information for women and girls who have been raped or sexually abused, however long ago.Call their local rate helpline 0845 1221 331 ( Monday to Friday 12noon to 2.30pm, 7pm to 9.30pm, weekends and bank holidays 2.30pm to 5pm).

The CAB - Citizens Advice Bureau website contains masses of information on a wide range of topics, including your rights. If you would prefer to visit a CAB office you can find your local office on the website or in your phone directory under Citizens Advice Bureau.
