Wrtier Daniel Feeld is being haunted by his own lines. There are fierce rows in the cutting room over his latest screenplay, Karaoke, and Daniel and director Nick Balmer are not seeing eye to eye. Despite suffering serious stomach pains, Danniel goes out to dinner with his producer Anna Griffiths, who tries to smooth his ruffled feathers.
However, at a nearby table, the beautiful young Sandra Sollars is having a row with her boyfriend that sounds to Daniel remarkably like a scene from Karaoke.
As fiction and reality seem to merge, Daniel wonders whether the drink is addling his mind or if he is actually going crazy. Drawn by her beauty and chilled by her words, Daniel follows Sandra to a seedy Soho bar where she works as a hostess. The bar is run by the villainous Arthur 'Pig' Mailion. There is a fictitious character in Daniel's screenplay with the very same name and job. Daniel collapses, unconscious.
