Job: Photographer. Rankin has photographed many celebrities and politicians including Kate Moss, Lily Allen, Liv Tyler, Blur, Gordon Brown, Tony Blair, Prince William, Jay Z, Madonna, Ricky Gervais and the Queen, but he also takes photos of normal people, making them look exceptional. Recently he travelled to Johannesburg with the BBC to film South Africa in Pictures, a documentary in which he traces the country’s photographic history. Rankin is affiliated with a number of charities and has created hard-hitting campaigns for Women’s Aid and Oxfam.
Background, hobbies & interests: Rankin tried to study accounting, but realised photography was what he really wanted to do and transferred to study photography at the London College of Printing. Here, Rankin met Jefferson Hack and together they created Dazed & Confused magazine, one of the most important magazines of the 90’s. Rankin, from Paisley, in Scotland, is married to Finnish-born model Tuuli Shipster. He lives in London with Tuuli and his son Lyle."
