Tay-Sachs is an inherited genetic disease that affects young children. There are non-Jewish carriers of the Tay-Sachs disease, but it is more common in the Jewish community, where one in 25 people is a carrier. To find out about screening for Tay-Sachs, speak to your GP who can arrange a test at a genetics centre or contact Jewish Care who run public screening sessions.
Antenatal Results and Choices or ARC provide non-directive support and information to parents throughout the antenatal testing process and when an abnormality is diagnosed in their unborn baby. They offer continued support to parents whatever decision is made.
