Mark is an experienced British vet with an expert knowledge of the anatomy of domestic animals. Mark is also an experienced TV presenter and has hosted a number of British shows.

Mark qualified as a vet from the Royal Veterinary College in 1987. The college was founded in 1791 and is now part of the University of London.

As a veterinary surgeon and physician, Mark has worked mainly with horses, dog and cats, but also with farm animals. He is especially fond of cows and feels we owe them a debt we will never fully repay. Currently, he is focusing on welfare issues associated with exaggerated anatomy and inherited disease in dogs; pet obesity and greyhound racing.

Mark is well known worldwide as a trusted voice of authority on animal welfare matters. He is passionate about encouraging people to think differently, and more scientifically, about the way they live with and look after the animals that share their lives. He strongly believes it's impossible to really appreciate just how amazing other species are, and to care for them well, without knowing how their bodies work, from the inside out.

Since 1990 Mark has developed strong and productive working relationships with the print and broadcast media as an author, producer and presenter. He has written 12 books on animal welfare and has hosted over 500 hours of factual television programming.

Mark's 'hobby' interests have also received attention from broadcasters. As well as hosting a variety of live and pre-recorded gardening and DIY shows for BBC1, Mark has fronted 10 major engineering series for Discovery in which, amongst other amazing toys, he has built his own supercar, 200mph plane and executive helicopter. A yacht and new house are still on his 'To Do' list!
