Shona shook off her inhibitions - and most of her clothes - to be crowned Miss Naked Beauty 2008. The classics student from Bristol University stood out from the other contestants with a dramatic speech in the final, where she promised to help all women feel beautiful, regardless of their shape or size.
In a whirlwind 12-months since the programme aired, Shona has joined the Naked team, written for Glamour Magazine and won a contract with Select Models, where she is their only size 14 model.
Shona passionately believes that a lack of body confidence can hold women back from achieving their full potential. She’s determined to put her money where her mouth is and help women ditch their hang-ups.
'The argument that real beauty lies within is not a new argument, but it is a very pertinent one,' she said. 'At university, I'm surrounded by beautiful, intelligent women who are miserable about the way they look. There is still a huge emphasis on how women look and the pressure on us is ridiculous.'
This season, Shona will be seen running a Teenage Body Confidence campaign, seeking to alleviate the rising body-image problems in the UK’s 12 to 20 year olds.
'I want to tackle confidence issues early so they don’t have a chance to develop, as I believe young women in the UK are being consumed and held back by their lack of self-esteem.'
