Gok answers your own style questions.
Melissa: "Just wanted to know how to hide a muffin top tummy. I've tried fat knickers but it just pops out further up!"
Gok: "Boost your boobs with a great padded or pushup bra, an empire line dress is perfect for supporting and boosting your chest. Fabric should never be tight over your tummy. Instead choose body conscious detailing such as feminine v-neck line, floaty cap sleeves and knee-length hemline to highlight your legs, arms and chest. Avoid drawstring trousers."
Catherine: "I'm trying to find the perfect party dress, without much luck! I'm 24 and a curvy size 14, but with huge E-cup boobs! As you can imagine i really struggle to get an outfit which fits me. Any ideas how and where to find the perfect Christmas dress without looking frumpy?"
Gok: "House of Fraser has a wonderful selection of gorgeous frocks also check out Marks and Spencers at the moment they have some real stunners, and Coast!"
Belinda: "I have been plagued by acne for years on my chest and back. I am so ashamed of my skin I won't wear any kind of low cut tops or dresses because I don't want anybody to know how hideous I look. I've tried all sorts of stuff to clear it up but I still break out. I want to look good naked but I have practically no self confidence left. What can I do?"
Gok: "Perhaps go to your local GP and double check if there is anything he can do. Be careful with any products that aren't prescribed as they can often make matters worse. To achieve that low cut sexy look without exposing too much flesh, opt for a sexy body with a chiffon shirt."
Cazza: What looks good on someone who: 1) Has a big bum 2) Big hips 3) Chunky legs AND 4) Very small waist 5) Very small bangers?"
Gok: "I'd suggest fitted jackets that hit the hip, or wrapped dresses. Halter neck dressed broaden the shoulders to balance out the hips. You could try wide fit palazzo pants and fitted shift dresses which give structure and balance to the shoulder and hips. A padded plunge balconette bra, teamed with anything with detail around the bust, will draw and keep attention."
Barbara: "I have just started watching your show and it's great!. I am a size 8 with very small boobs and bum straight up and down! Shape wise I would say a ruler. I would like some tips on what works best on my shape."
Gok: "Consider yourself lucky, most women would die for your shape! The key thing you need to remember is to add curves and this is easy by adding any waist cinching apparatus — ie waist belts and corsetry."
Rachel: "I'm 6ft tall, and big all over, size 18–20 with an hour glass figure, large E cup, and muffin top, and quite heavy on the hips. I'd love to ditch the jeans and get into a skirt and boots for winter. I've got very chunky legs, (18 inch calfs) and I can't wear heals because of a serious back injury – which rules out making my legs look leaner – any advice on which skirts to go for?"
Gok: "Remember girlfriend it's how you feel inside that carries your outfits! You have the amazing luxury of being 6" which I am sure can cause you issues when shopping, but believe you me, your amazing rack and the fact you have the most desireable body shape [hourglass] makes you a great woman to dress. Firstly, skirts. Because of your height I suggest you go for this seasons HOT cut which is mid lengths. Think Orient Express 1940s. These have been seen all over the catwalks this season and although sometimes tricky to pull off, when you get it right you will know it.
Mid lengths are great for women who have an issue with their legs, as they cover up the bit of your body you hate the most. Try a flat biker style boot with them to keep it looking current, and use a soft fabric like felt or wool to contrast against the hardness of the leather boot. Allow the skirt to fit comfortably on the hips and if you get one which tapers at the knee, it will really show off your curves and that gorgeous hourglass figure.
For the Muffin top, big magic underwear is your way forward and great for this season as it will add an extra layer of warmth! For girls with chunky calfs I suggest you go to a specialist store that sells boots with wide fittings, like Evans who have some great styles. You can try other stores, look for boots with an elasticated section on the top of the boot which wil stretch as much as needed. Because of your back injury, heels are an issue. I suggest you hold your head up high and make your posture do the talking!"
Liz: "I'm 5'2", vary between sizes 16–18, 34GG bangers, big hips, short legs, but generally hourglass in shape and I need a warm coat for winter but can't find a style which doesn't make either end look enormous! Help!"
Gok: "Sounds to me like you have a fabulous body and with GG cup bangers, girlfriend you are laughing! A coat for you this season must be tailored, which will showcase that hourglass figure! Try a military style coat, down to just above your knees, which will lengthen you. Get one which works both buttoned up to the neck or can be left open, creating a V neck line. Either single or double breasted will be great. When done up this will make your chest appear smaller for your more modest days and when you wanna rock that rack, open it up and showcase your cleavage with the V neck. A good tip is fabric, try a light fabric which is lined for warmth and won't make you look bigger than you are."
Vicky: "I am a size 10/12, with no curves. My problem is that I have quite broad shoulders and since finishing breastfeeding baby number two, I have no bust. What's the best way to disguise my broad shoulders and boost the appearance of my bust?"
Gok: "Boost the appearance of your bust with a good fitting bra and some padding or gel fillets to increase cleavage. Try wearing one of this seasons hottest trends, ruffles, as these will keep attention on your chest area."
Carrie: "I am 29 years old and am 4 ft 11", size 10 and a 32-34 dd. Could you please advise on the best clothes to help me feel taller and give me a defined waist. I feel like I look dumpy all the time. I love long boots, don't wear skirts so don't have a clue which ones to wear and I hate pink. I am also conscious of the tops of my thighs as I carry a bit of weight there. Please help me as I love your show but have never seen one addressing both these problems."
Gok: "Heels will always be your best friend, and if you struggle in stilletos then try a pair with a platform at the front for that extra inch. To appear taller, and to give you a waist, try a fitted jacket or a cigarette trouser suit in one block colour (ie black or grey) which will lengthen you out nicely."
Louise: "I'm a size 14-16. I have curvy hips and I'm around a 34DD. My problem is that although I have big boobs, my shoulders are narrow. There are lots of styles I'd like to wear to slim down my hips, but a lot of dresses in this style are low cut or strapless and I can't afford to go without straps on my bra. Should I be dressing as a pear-shape or should I dress as an hourglass? What styles of dresses do you suggest would suit my shape?"
Gok: "Your sexy silhouette is begging to be outlined in a dress, I would suggest that you stay away from unstructured slip dresses as you know as they will just hang off you. A three quarter sleeve, square neck, dress with kick pleats at the hem is perfect for your silhouette. The sleeves will finish at waist level focusing attention on your slimmest part, and the square neck will broaden your shoulders, slimming your waist in.
A cheeky tip to get you through the party season – a fake fur bolero jacket or capelet is a glamorous finishing touch to broaden your top half and balance out your bottom."
Paivi: "I’m 159 cm tall and size 10-12, but I’m all legs and no body – my legs are 33 inches. How can I hide the short back and make myself look more balanced? I find that dresses look awful on me and I cannot tuck shirts in as this makes me look even more odd sized."
Gok: "Stay away from Empire lines as they will make your legs look a hundred miles long. Look for a dress with hanger appeal – sounds strange I know but if the the dress already has better curves than you, buy it! A full skirt defines the waist, creating an hour glass shape. Wearing your hems higher than knee length will show off your enviably long legs, but will also make you look less curvaceous. Go for a pencil skirt that narrows at the hem (especially if it then kicks out again into pleats or frills) – this will make your hips appear rounder. Avoid pointy toed shows with spiky heels which will elongate your legs. Instead go for round toes, ankle straps and ankle boots, which will all crop the length of your legs and emphasize your calves, making them look curvier. Round toed shoes or flat riding boots worn over jeans will break up your legs and create curves.
Vikki: "I'm 35 years old, with long blonde hair and blue eyes. I'm 5ft 4 with a 32F bust and skinny legs, but my main problem is my wobbly tummy. Although I'm a size 8-10 I still hate my tummy with a vengeance!!! I always wear black but I would like to try something else but am unsure what colour and style would suit me."
Gok: "Firstly I want you to know I think your belly is beautiful! Now, down to some basic rules and advice — trousers, skirts and tops should all just graze the top of your tummy. Everyone needs a pair of magic knickers, but particularly you so adding a pair of magic pants to your wardrobe can change your look in an instant. I would recommended control top tights or magic knickers. The dress will always be your best friend as separate parts will draw attention to the bit of your body you are trying to play down, your midriff. Although you have great legs, avoid skinny styled trousers which will make your tummy seem larger in comparison — a straight leg cut will balance you out. Go for a high waisted pencil skirt which will work wonders where you least expect it, whilst a hemline that hits the top of the knee will show off your gorgeous legs."
Sally: "I am a size 10/12 and have a 34B bust. Not horrendous, I know, but I feel like I have the smallest bust ever especially compared to my friends! What can I wear to enhance my boobs and make me feel feminine?"
Gok: "First things first let’s agree your mini boobs are elegant, cool, sexy, feminine and classy. I can’t make you look like you’re a 36DD but I can promise to stop you looking 2D! The key to doing this is simple; keep clothes 3D, with curved seaming and volume detailing. All of this will add depth to your outfits and a little va va voom to your chest. Forget implants &mdash you want a curvier chest, the easiest way to achieve this is with nifty tailoring details, curved seaming and contrast piping will act as body contouring, drawing on the figure you really want. Meanwhile, smartly placed gathering or excess detailing, like ruffles, will create fullness over the bust."
Louise: "I am 27 and have just had a baby and think my figure has changed from an hour glass to I don't know what!! What styles would suit me now? I'm 5 ft 2 inches with chunky thighs, a big butt, 36C boobs (sagging now) and a bit of a tummy that has stretch marks on it. This has got me quite down, I used to love clothes but now I haven't got a clue. I feel like a frumpy rather than yummy mummy. I'm still mixing between maternity wear and my old clothes but I just look a mess. Please help!"
Gok: "Firstly let's celebrate the birth of your little one but let’s not think that because you are a new Mum style needs to go out the window! Don’t make the mistake of trapping yourself in a world of 'comfortable' clothing in a bid to detract from your body shape which has, of course, completely changed! I think what you need is a body boost — hoist those tits up, trap that tummy in and elongate those legs. Invest in a push up bra and a great pair of heels — it’s amazing how quickly you will notice the difference!
If your tummy is the bit that’s getting you down, don’t worry there are a few simple rules that will help to make you feel more confident:
Fabric should never be tight across your tummy.
A neckline that dives into your décolletage will flatter your chest and narrow your torso.
Go for buttonless wrap over tops as they will clinch your waist, whilst the tie belt will hang down to distract from your tummy."
Judy: "My daughter, sister and I are all small women. My sister is 4 ft 11", my daughter 4 ft 10" and myself 5ft. We really have trouble when it comes to clothes. Can you give any advice please?"
Gok: "Blokes love a shorter woman, it's no surprise as gorgeous things come in small packages!
My advice to you all is simple:
Keep styles simple, streamlined and straight.
Show lots of leg.
Skirts and dresses should end above the knee.
Make a high visibility statement with bright colors.
Keep your necklines low, accessories should be polished and in proportion to your frame. Try not to buy black, keep all eyes on you in bold bright colours. Finally remember shorter torso, longer legs, taller lady!"
Jan H: "What's the best gear for a 50 year old 5ft 3" female (apple shape I think, never sure about that one!) whose belly is the biggest sticky out bit. Nice legs, small bust, not bothered about arms, bum or thighs, just would love to hide the belly and look a bit more trendy."
Gok: "There are some rare women who naturally have a flat, or even a concave stomach. Some do endless sit ups to get that six pack, while others just push salad around their plates and never eat anything naughty! I will have you know that a tummy is a turn on, there’s a reason why the world’s oldest dance form is belly dancing...your sexy belly is proof that you like a bit of naughtiness and spice in your life.
Three golden rules for you:
Boost boobs
Float over tummy and hips
Work your waist, legs and arms
And my biggest tip of all, invest in a pair of magic pants – they can literally change your look in an instant. The dress will always work well for you as separates tend to focus on the very area you are trying to hide — silky slip dress don’t have enough detailing to distract from your paunch though, and bias cut styles are the queens of cling and will vacuum seal your belly bulge. Instead opt for an empire line dress, perfect for supporting and boosting your chest drawing attention away from your belly."
