Adventure and sports coach Martin is Director of Training at the National Mountain Centre in Wales

Martin Chester is a leading expert in the world of adventure sports coaching. As an internationally qualified British mountain and ski guide, a mountaineering instructor and top-class kayak coach he has twenty years of experience at the cutting edge of the UK outdoors industry. He is currently the Director of Training at Plas y Brenin - Sport England's national centre in North Wales.

In his role at the National Mountain Centre he is responsible for managing a team of the UK's most qualified, experienced and motivated outdoor instructors, leaders and coaches. Between them, they deliver the majority of the training and assessment for all the UK outdoor qualifications and set the industry 'gold standard' in this country.

As a coach educator, Martin has been responsible for the delivery and development of coaching awards for Canoe England, Mountain Training UK and the British Mountain Guides, to name a few. He regularly writes for Fall-Line and Summit magazines, wrote and produced 'Off-Piste Essentials' (an educational ski mountaineering DVD) and was recently quoted in the Journal of Adventure Education and Outdoor Learning.
