Was Henry VIII much cop as a composer? The film and television music maestro reveals all and talks about his score for the programme's soundtrack.
Philip, who's a cellist and a professor of the Royal Academy in London, also describes the process he went through to construct the music, which uses material written by Henry VIII himself.
But was the fearsome monarch any good?
'His harmonic sense... does lead to some wonderfully discordant music which you'll hear a lot of [in the series],' says Philip. 'So, sometimes he's responsible for the nasty stuff!'
