Penny tells a white lie to avoid spending time with her annoying childhood friend Daphne when she comes to Chicago. But one falsehood leads to another and soon the entire group is tangled up in a web of deceit.
Brad and Jane pretend they have a house by the lake and a baby on the way, Alex fakes a change in sexual orientation, and Dave feigns an illness.
Meanwhile, Max and Dave are in danger of being evicted by their lonely landlord Darren, unless Alex can be persuaded to sweet-talk him.
