Hairy Women

First Broadcast:

Lifting the lid for the first time on the secrets of female body hair, Hairy Women illustrates where women have it, how they remove it and, most importantly, why it is often seen as so important to appear hairless.

Peta grows all her body hair back as an experiment during the film, becoming increasingly self-conscious and miserable along the way. The other featured women talk about how they painstakingly and often painfully remove their body hair, and reveal the extent to which their daily lives and routines are affected by and organised around the hair removing procedure.
