The Winning Top

Model: Lucy
Evans £45
(Available in sizes 14-30)
This top is predominantly black which is slimming but the studded embellishment keeps it young and fun.  The longer length stops it riding up and avoids muffin top disasters!

Model: Iris
Warehouse £45
(Available in sizes 8-18)
The colour of this top is fabulous and really makes a statement. The draping is on trend and the wide shoulders and neckline make this top look elegant without being too revealing.

Model: Jo R
Wallis £35
(Available in sizes 8-20)
The sleeves on this top skim over the tops of Jo’s arms and the empire line and deep v-neck flatter her bust but falls smoothly over the tummy area. The light colour and print draws the eye upwards away from the hips and bottom.

Model: Janet
Oasis £40
(Available in sizes 8-16)
The detail on this top is around the neckline so draws the eye upwards. If you are top-heavy v-necks are a more flattering choice but Janet can pull it off and look fabulous!

Model: Sally Salt
Next £35
(Available in sizes 6-22)
The hemline of this top lengthens Sally’s body and draws attention to the hips balancing out her bust.

Model: Jo C
Debenhams £45
(Available in sizes 8-18)
The halter-neckline on this top slims Jo’s shoulders and the empire line skims over her tummy are. The embellished neckline draws the eye to her bust area.

Model: Cath
R+R @ Matalan £16
(Available in sizes 18-28)
The empire line of this top makes Cath’s boobs look great and disguises her tummy. The v-neckline draws attention away from the tummy and the sleeves hide the tops of her arms.  The print is bold and the colours look great with Cath’s complexion.

Model: Helen
River Island £29.99
(Available in sizes 8-18)
Asymmetric is a big trend this season but it’s essential to choose the right underwear! A nude multiway bra is best with this top.

  2. I'm a size 20-22. When I go into expensive or high street shops I see lots of gorgeous styles and colours that I know I would look good in (I have had my colours and image done so know what suits me) such as a fitted jacket in electric blue. But they don't go up to my size. Admitted, some shops sell larger sizes but the styles are not great! Please tell me why oh why do designers restrict their visual skills to the slimmer figure. What a waste of talent when they could have much more of an open field.

  3. Saw Gok's programme 2.6.09. Loved Sally Salt Next top. Tried to buy off their website - out of stock. Really disappointed - don't suppose you can help Size 18
