Fabric scissors
Thread - same colour as the fabric you are working with

For the coat
1. Cream trench coat. I bought the one for this outfit from Ted Baker for £199.
2. Some coloured piping. I chose mint green piping from Barnett Lawson for £7.34 per metre. I needed 4 metres so it worked out at £29.36.

Iron on cats. I used 15 of these at £1.99 each from MacCulloch & Wallis
For the hat
1 white beret which I bought from MacCulloch & Wallis for £20.56.
Some flower crystals on wire. You can get these from any good haberdashery. I got mine from Barnett & Lawson for £8.10
A black arrow feather which was £7.64 by Barnett Lawson.
To finish off
Purple suede platform heels £95 by Jones Bootmakers.
Purple handbag £25 by Per Una at Marks and Spencer.
Dramatic sequinned flower necklace by Freedom at Topshop for £80.
How to make your dress…
1) Ice Cream Colours is exactly what it says on the tin; clothing in beautiful pastel colours. I have given my outfit a bit of a quirky fifties twist, so grab your dress and the selection of iron on adhesive cats. If you don’t want to use cats, there are lots of different types of iron on fabric motifs, so get creative!
2) Place the fabric motifs on the dress where you want them to go, with the adhesive side down. Now grab your trusty iron and the towel or cloth. Place the towel over the fabric motif and iron over it. This will heat the adhesive under the motif, sticking it to the dress.
How to make the coat…
3) Take your trench coat and cut off the windbreaker carefully with your fabric scissors for a clean cut. Now sew the coloured piping onto the hem of the trench, either stitch by hand or use your sewing machine.
How to make the hat…
4) Take your beret and hand stitch the flowers and feather onto the side of the hat.
Now take the dress, pull on the coat and cinch in at the waist with a belt. To finish off, add a big dramatic necklace, leather gloves, a purple bag, and there you have it- Ice Cream colours with a fifties twist.
