3.5 metres of long black fringing which I got at £5.32 per metre from Barnett Lawson

A piece of leather from your local fabric store or an old bag/leather jacket that you are ready to throw out

2 pairs of shoulder pads which were £1.88 per pair by MacCulloch & Wallis

2 gold epaulettes which were £5.40 each by Barnett Lawson

4 x Studs £3.50 per bracelet by Silver Star (Wholesale) 43 Berwick St

A can of Gold Spray paint £5.99 from Cass Art

A pair of black tights which I got for £6 by Marks & Spencer

How to make your dress

1) Take your bustier top from Topshop and your black fringing. Hand sew the fringing on the underarms of the top along the seam starting from the underarm to the wrist. Do this on both arms. If your fringing has a chain stitch thread holding all the strands in place you’ll need to release them by pulling on it rather like unzipping a zip.

2) Now get a pair of shoulder pads, the leather and fabric chalk. Trace the shoulder pad on to the leather and add a generous 4 cm allowance all the way around this will give you enough leather to fold under the pad.  Do this for both shoulder pads and then cut out the traced shapes.

3) While the leather is flat, place an epaulette in the middle of your leather.  This must be placed length ways on the pad as when the pad goes onto the shoulder the epaulette needs to be running along your shoulder as opposed to over your shoulder.  Tack these onto the leather.

4) Now wrap the leather around the shoulder pad so that the excess leather is on the underside of the pad and the epaulette is on the top of the pad. Make sure that the epaulettes are lying straight. Now get your needle and thread and tack the leather down.  Don’t worry if this is messy as this will be the underside of the pad. Again do this for both shoulder pads.

5) Now hand stitch the covered shoulder pads onto the shoulders of your top with the epaulettes going across the shoulder as opposed to over the shoulder.

How to make the shoes

7) Now grab your bracelet and cut it up so that the studs are all loose. Now take your gold spray paint and spray these studs gold.  Do this on some old newspaper so as not to damage your surface. Once done leave to dry.

8 )Now take your glue gun and glue the studs in a line up the front seam and the back seam of your boot.

To finish off

9) With your gold spray paint, spray the earrings gold.

10)Now put on your top, team it with the skirt and belt and tights. Then put on your fierce shoes and you’re good to go-  a glamorous warrior!
