Garth Marenghi's Darkplace
About the Show
A maverick doctor battles with the evil forces lurking beneath a hospital in Romford, engaged in a desperate struggle against poor production values, awful dialogue and unrealistic violence...
Series 1 Summary
This terrifying serial set in the grim hallways of a Romford hospital was scripted and directed by best-selling horror writer Garth Marenghi, known to thousands as the author of such classic chillers as The Ooze (can water die?), Afterbirth (a mutated placenta attacks Bristol), and Black Fang (rats learn to drive).
Marenghi stars as Dr Rick Dagless MD, a magnum-wielding ex-warlock taking on the forces of evil. His publisher, Dean Learner, co-stars as ball-busting hospital administrator Thornton Reed.
The series also features cult horror star Todd Rivers as Dr Lucien Sanchez, and Madeleine Wool (who vanished during production and remains missing, presumed dead) as Dr Liz Asher.
At last, some 20 years after its creation, Garth Marenghi's Darkplace has been unleashed on an unsuspecting public.
That's you, by the way.
Episode 1 - Once Upon a Beginning
When Dr Liz Asher arrives for her first day at Darkplace Hospital, she has an ominous vision: blood, guts, a real horror show. Boss Thornton Reed wants this resolved, in a strictly orthodox manner.
Episode 2 - Hell Hath Fury
Why are objects flying about of their own accord, assaulting innocent civilians and disrupting hospital procedure? Is it telekinesis, PMT, or a deadly mixture of the two?
Episode 3 - Skipper the Eyechild
The past is stirring in the halls of Darkplace, which means Trouble with a capital T (the other letters lower case). Wanton's gamma radiation mumps programme has created a horny giant eye on legs.
Episode 4 - The Apes of Wrath
Darkplace's water supply has been contaminated and its inhabitants are regressing to an ape-like state. Can Dag undo this devolution or is Romford doomed to perpetual monkey business?
Episode 5 - Scotch Mist
A strange killer mist surrounds Darkplace, tartanning the hides of unwary travellers while phantom bagpipes play on, regardless. Dr Rick Dagless MD must face more than the music to unravel its secret.
Episode 6 - The Creeping Moss from the Shores of Shuggoth
Dr Lucien Sanchez has always finished second best to Dag when it comes to females, until now. But there's a hitch. The woman of his dreams is infected with cosmic broccoli.
