The winner of the Galaxy Book of the Year has been announced as One Day by David Nicholls.
The prestigious accolade was voted for by the public on www.channel4.com from a shortlist of the eight category winners from the Galaxy National Book Awards 2010: an impressive literary set including Stephen Fry, Hilary Mantel, Jonathan Franzen and Andrew Marr.
David Nicholls says: 'I'm both surprised and delighted by the award and would like to thank everyone who took the trouble to vote. It's a great pleasure to discover that the story of Dex and Em has struck such a chord. Word of mouth is the best review a writer can possibly hope for, and my thanks to everyone who has read and talked about One Day.'
