Four Rooms dealer Emma Hawkins was online after Episode 1 chatting live on Twitter with you all. Here's a transcript of the chat:
Q: @Im_A_Nerdian: Emma what made you decide that you wanted to enter your line of work? A: @emmahawkins4: My father's in the business and I admired his work so it was an obvious calling for me.
Q: @steff_raichura: What is the strangest thing you've ever bought? And how much did you pay for it? A: @emmahawkins4: A double-headed calf was different! Just below £1k.
Q: @timglanfield: Why do they always choose your valuation first? A: @emmahawkins4: I'm a woman in a man's world and I believe they feel I won't buy!
Q: @TobyRoyale: Is your house full of taxidermy examples? Do you have a huge moose head over the fireplace? A: @emmahawkins4: I like to be surrounded by interesting objects - but no moose above the fireplace!
Q: @matfinchuk: Before you buy something do you already have an end-buyer in mind, or just take a punt? A: @emmahawkins4: Around 40% of the time I do have an end buyer in mind, 60% of the time I don't.
Q: @RussellCrazyCat: Emma why are you intrigued by antiques so much? And what is your favourite film? A: emmahawkins4: Because I grew up around antiques so it's always been an interest. And my favourite film...?
Q: @Quilton: What have you done with the Norman Foster table? A: @emmahawkins4: It's still with me but obviously for sale.
Q: hello0perator: what was the first item you bought and sold? Can you remember how much you paid/made? A: @emmahawkins4: First item was Polynesian paddle, I bought it for £12 and sold it for £25.
Q: Zephyr002: What made you come to England rather than trade in Australia (glad you did)? A: @emmahawkins4: My father is English and there were more curiosities to be found in England.
Q: DaLondonGirl: How do you feel spending so much on a table that cost only £450? A: @emmahawkins4: Because it's a great table and I know its value.
Q: PhilMaxx: What's your favourite art purchase? A: @emmahawkins4: The Bacon has to be one of them.
Q: @fenners73: Emma what is your biggest regret in relation to a purchase or missed purchase opportunity? A: @emmahawkins4: There's been many, especially a double narwhal skull and tusk.
Q: @neillien71: Emma what will you do with the items you bought? Auction, other traders or do you have retail premises? A: @emmahawkins4: Smaller objects (my curiosity objects) go to Dover Street Market in London and the rest are of course for sale.
Q: @AGreen24_: what have you done with the Bacon? A: emmahawkins4: It's also still with me.
