Film4's annual tie-in with the FrightFest festival offers a nightly offering of spine-chilling double bills.
Highlights of the season include the premieres of Vinyan, with Emmanuelle Beart and Rufus Sewell as a couple searching for the son they believe was killed in the 2004 tsunami, haunted by apparent evidence of his survival. In King of the Hill a pair thrown together by fate, Maria Valverde and Leonardo Sbaraglia, are hunted through the Spanish countryside, while in horror sequel 28 Weeks Later, the virus that consumed Britain has been contained - or has it...?
There are also screenings of The Omen, with Gregory Peck and Lee Remick as the parents of the spawn of Satan, and 30 Days of Night in which an Alaskan town, entering its winter darkness, becomes the target of a band of thirsty vampires.
Also showing in autumn 2010 are the premieres of Tulpan, the Cannes-winning comedy set among the yurt dwellers of Kazahkstan and Aleksandra, a touching examination of relationships between Chechens and occupying Russian forces through the eyes of a grandmother visiting her soldier grandson.
British films featured on Film4 in the autumn include The Disappeared, with Harry Treadway as a teenager driven to investigate his brother's mysterious disappearance in south London's estates, while the re-make of Sleuth stars Michael Caine and Jude Law.
