First Broadcast: Mon 6 January 2003

Dr Nikhil Dhurandhar believes that he's found a virus, ad-36, that causes obesity. Dr Dhurandhar began exploring his revolutionary theory four years ago, yet despite the impressive amount of data he has acquired to support his case, the scientific community remains deeply sceptical.

To put Dr Dhurandhar's theory to the test, this programme screens both overweight and thin volunteers to assess whether they carry antibodies to the virus and whether it might have spread to the UK. Will the volunteers test positive? And what will be their reaction to the news?
