Tim tests a number of abdominal exercise systems, starting with theelectric toning belt.

Watch the clip here

Tim says: 'This is supposed to work by firing electric charges into your muscles and causing them to contract. I would say it was a complete and utter waste of time. There were no visible benefits, it was embarrassing to use and it changed the pitch of my voice every time it electrocuted me. Maybe the people who sell it would say it takes longer than two weeks to have an effect, but it just feels unnatural to me to have my tummy moving on its own. Unfortunately there is no lazy way to good abs - you just have to go to the gym and do exercise.'

Main Gadget: Slendertone System-Abs = £99.99
The Abs belt helps you get firmer, more toned abdominals. The patented toning technology ensures all of the muscles in the region are toned to give the entire area a full workout. Just one 20 min session with the System-Abs belt is the equivalent of doing 120 crunches! Tim used the Abs-belt for two weeks but did not get the six-pack he was looking for.

  2. During the program you showed that the presenter has lost weight and re-shaped his belly, tanned himself etc. I missed parts of the program, so I missed the actual method is losing the weigh. Can you confirm, or detail the method used. I, like many of your watchers and Tim, tried an avalanche of machine and nothing really seems to work. At present, I am dieting, gym four times a week and slendertone.

  4. During the program you showed a man under-going what I think you call 'smart-lipo', but never pursued the final outcome. Was there a follow up to this surgery, i.e. how successful was the final outcome and what was his recovery time?

  5. I like Tim's programmes. He has a bit of a laugh, doesn't take himself seriously but speaks for a lot of men who would like to improve their body image. The fact is that developing the abs area should be last on the list of self improvements. Its like putting the roof on before building the walls. First is to start to get the weight off by 1) adjusting diet ~2200 cals per day 60% carbs, 25% protein, 15% fat. 2) start to exercise on a treadmill 4 - 5 times per week by walking at a rate that raises a sweat on the brow - build up to 70 minutes. I know its boring but that's the price to be paid. When the weight starts to drop, start to use gym equipment to put some tone on the upper body. Twice a week, replacing some treadmill sessions. Once you've made it a regular part of your lifestyle, 5 years later you'll be in good shape, and will have introduced all sorts of other exercises into your routine. Now look down. See, your belly has disappeared, penis is clearly visible, and you have firm abs (but probably not a 6-pack)! Job done. Best to start at 18 years of age and miss out the getting-seriously-fat bit altogether.
