Edward, 33, is a highways traffic officer from The Wirral. He had a happy childhood until he was 16, when he developed Tourette’s syndrome.
He was ostracised and laughed at by his friends at school and became very isolated. In his depression Edward turned to food, and by the time he was 30 he weighed 34 stone.
Because of his weight issues Edward has had a lonely life. He has never had a girlfriend, and lived with his Mum until she passed away in 2006. Shortly before her death, Edward decided on gastric band surgery in a bid to turn his life around.
Since January 2007 he has lost nearly 17 stone and this has changed his life dramatically. Edward no longer gets comments and he can now walk and exercise; he is also starting to feel worthy enough to take care of his appearance.
However he is still held back by the enormous amount of excess skin that causes discomfort and yeast infections. Edward’s main ambition is be confident enough to find a girlfriend.
