As the programme charts the farmers' crusade, their candid manner allows a glimpse into some of the psychological strains of their profession.
John Fawbet is one such example. Coming from a long line of Farndale sheep farmers, John's profits have decreased so much in the last few years that he has made the brave and heartrending decision to sell the last of his flock and quit farming permanently.
Johnny Piercy, an enterprising pig farmer, has decided that action must be taken to highlight the farmers' plight. With fellow members of the farming community, the 'Pig Protest Action Group' mount an aggressive PR campaign outside a supermarket, highlighting the difference between the welfare standards of British pigs and their European counterparts.
