As war in Afghanistan persists and British soldiers continue to lose their lives fighting an insurgency that many commentators say they can't defeat, reporter Stephen Grey investigates whether our military is engaged in an impossible mission.

  1. A programme that is worth watching as it gives context and background to those of us at home who don't know enough about what the British Army are doing in Afghanistan. It shows the importance of having a clear strategy, of consistency between leadership, of building from strength and why this work is important for us in Britain as well as the Afghan people who want to be able to live their lives free of war and tyranny. The programme also reminds of the importance of goood governance and reconstruction, not just military might. I accept the points that equipment needs chanage but a clearer focus has been needed. The comments from all sides in this programme predicted earlier this year the difficult Summer for 2009.
