Undercover Mosque: Ofcom Review

Features

An Islamic man sits in quiet contemplation

Wednesday 08 August 2007

In August 2007 West Midlands Police and the Crown Prosecution Service reported Channel 4 to industry regulator Ofcom, alleging that Dispatches: Undercover Mosque had, through misleading editing, 'completely distorted' the meaning of Islamic clerics and speakers featured in the programme.

However, in a ruling published in November 2007, Ofcom found that the programme was 'a legitimate investigation' and said there was 'no evidence that [Channel 4] had misled the audience or that the programme was likely to encourage or incite criminal activity'.
