The Dispatches app has been designed to provide additional content and live interaction to enhance your experience of watching Channel 4 Dispatches.
You can use it to take part in polls and get additional information on the issues being discussed in the programmes on your iPhone, iPad or Android phones or tablets.
The app will follow programmes on Channel 4 and Channel 4+1 and can be downloaded free from your app store. Select the relevant Dispatches programme and channel (Channel 4 or Channel 4+1) from the app homepage, before or during the broadcast.
When the programme is live, look out for the 'On Air' image on the home page. Press it to start receiving content.
You will be able to access the information delivered during the live broadcast for a short period of time after the programme has aired. Eventually, only items that you've saved will still be accessible from the app, although additional information will be available on the Dispatches website.
HOW TO USE THE APP
For the best experience, use wi-fi on your device.
New content will be delivered at intervals during each programme. When it arrives, your phone will vibrate and a flag marked 'NEW' will appear - simply slide the app to the right to view the latest content or touch 'NEW'. You can swipe back and forth through content at any time. When new content is available, touching the 'NEW' flag will automatically take you to the latest, most relevant page.
DISCUSS
To view relevant Twitter discussions about individual programmes, press 'Discuss'. If you have a Twitter account, you can join in the conversation without having to leave the app. Use the Tweet button on the 'Discuss' panel to connect the app to your Twitter account, after which you can join the conversation. Each programme will have a Twitter hashtag, and we encourage you to use that to follow the conversation too.
SAVE FOR LATER
Much of the information you are sent during the programme can be saved using the 'Save for Later' button. Providing you have signed in to your Channel 4 account, this saved information can then be accessed via the 'Saved Items' area on the homepage. You can register with Channel 4 and sign in to your account using 'Connect' on the home page.
SHARE
You can share content on Twitter and Facebook, or by email. Simply press 'Share' on the page of content you want to send.
SETTINGS
You can select the amount of information you receive during each programme via the 'Settings' option.
CONNECT
Connect the app to your social media accounts to make the most of the app's features. Choose the 'Connect' option on the home page to share content and discuss the programme with other users.
