At least dutiful pizzeria-owning husband Tom is there to provide emotional support, financial support, and a surprise new daughter from a previous relationship – just what Lynette needed.
The Scavo marriage is put under the greatest strain when Lynette gets very close to Tom's new chef Rick - literally - after being locked in the freezer together with only each other's body heat for warmth. Luckily for Tom, Lynette gives Rick the boot, but any celebrations are short-lived when she receives a terrifying diagnosis.
Disguising the effects of chemotherapy may be a small deception by the standards of Wisteria Lane, but it's not long before the wig's off and Lynette's cancer is known throughout the neighbourhood.
