Deliver Us from Evil

Oliver O'Grady, an ex-priest once based in California was deported back to the Republic of Ireland after serving half of a 14-year prison sentence. O'Grady worked in several Californian parishes in the 1970s and 80s and over the years abused many children from babies to teenagers, the children of his trusting parishioners.

Astonishingly, he was prepared to go on camera with extraordinary self justifications and explanations of the abuse but the true horrors of the documentary come from the testimony of just a handful of his victims. They, their families and reforming priest Tom Doyle argue that O'Grady's superiors knew of his actions and moved him from parish to parish to try and avoid scandal and damage to high placed careers.

Unsurprisingly, no senior Catholic spokesman from the Californian church agreed to appear in this powerful, damning film.
