Peter Mitchell discusses playing - you guessed it - Peter Mitchell.

Tell us about how you got involved with Rick and Peter

I was fortunate enough to work with 11 films on Cast Offs, so as soon as I heard about the idea of myself and Rick Edwards teaming up for a comedy I was very excited!

Were you hesitant to make the move into comedy, or was it an ambition of yours?

Wow, that's an interesting question, emm... I am a bit of a joker but comedian? I think I would be praising myself a wee bit too much there. I'm an actor and if I'm asked to do comedy then hopefully I can pull it off!

You've represented the country at various sports. Do you intend to keep playing?

I've been a sportsman all my life, from my youngest memories I always had a football, I was always in school sports and of course I was fortunate enough to sign as a professional footballer for Leeds Utd when I was only 15. After my accident I concentrated more on wheelchair b'ball and gym work, but like I said I've always been big into sports and that will stick with me forever.

How much do you have in common with the Peter we see in the show - is he a subversion of your real self?

Obviously I'm playing myself but it is scripted and we do have directors so... Yes I'm playing myself but I'm still acting. In the show as you'll see Rick really gets under my skin, and I think I would probably react in the exact same way in real life. Obviously Joel and Jamie knew me from Cast Offs so I'm sure them and Tom spoke about me on screen and they made it very easy for me to play.

How did you find working with Rick?

Never a dull moment, he's a big personality as we all know but we had great craic, him and Joe cracked me up the whole time so fingers crossed we get a series out of it.

How did you film that scene at the school assembly?

I don't know how to answer that without giving it away... that was a great day! I was terrified, I had to give out a speech in front of all the kids and obviously with the crew and everyone there too, but, that part of the show is my favorite. I don't want to give too much away but once the audience see it I'm sure they will agree with me.

Would you like to film a full series of Rick and Peter? What do you think writer Tom Basden has in store for the characters?

Definitely, 100 percent yes! The pilot ends with the possibility of a series and there is so much we cud do with both characters. I've been told of a view ideas and it sounds absolutely fantastic so like I said earlier... Fingers crossed!
