David Mitchell is best known as the other half of the comedy duo Mitchell and Webb. After meeting at Cambridge University's Footlights, the talented twosome now co-write and star in the hit show Peep Show, where Mitchell plays boffin Mark Corrigan.
Peep Show itself is Mitchell's most successful venture: it's the winner of one Bafta, three British Comedy Awards and has aired six series with one more commissioned to date.
A frequenter of British panel shows, Mitchell hosts The Unbelievable Truth and The Bubble and has made a name for himself in shows such as QI, Mock the Week and Have I Got News for You. He also acts as team captain in Would I Lie to You?
Mitchell facts:
- Mitchell expressed interest in succeeding David Tennant as the Doctor in Doctor Who, but commented that he 'would not be attractive enough'.
- After being scouted by Apple, Mitchell and Webb are now the faces of the UK version of Apple's Get a Mac campaign.
- At the ripe old age of 35 and with numerous awards to his name, David (like his Peep Show character Mark) still doesn't drive.
