Smooth, suave and silver-tongued - that's Senator Robert McCallister. Played by the dreamy Rob Lowe, what's not to love?
A former Republican senator from California, he was also once a candidate for the Presidency, and had many a clash with Kevin after having previously voted against gay marriage.
Robert met his wife Kitty on her TV show. Kitty then went to work for him to head up his communications team - et voila.
Their relationship hit a rough patch, however, when Kitty miscarried and Robert revealed he didn't want any more children.
As Series 5 kicks off, Robert still lies comatose in a hospital bed following the car crash. Kitty remains hopeful of a recovery, but soon it's time to make a tough decision that will affect all of their lives.
