Meet the families who take part in 'Bringing Up Baby'.
Vicky (28) and Matt (33) are the proud parents of baby Mia. Vicky has a seven-year-old daughter, Ashton, from a previous relationship but Mia is Matt's first child. Vicky and Matt chose to follow the 1950s method as financial constraints made it important for Vicky to get back to work quickly and they felt it was vital that Mia was in a structured routine from early on. But how will all the family react to the rigid routine ahead?
Rani (43) and Colin (42) are facing double trouble (or double the fun) with newborn twins Sam and Maya. Rani and Colin felt that the 1950s routine would work best for twins and were keen for the newborns to fit into their very structured life.
Sarah (38) and John (37)'s baby son Leon was induced and arrived just before Christmas. Sarah had very strong ideas about motherhood and was adamant that she didn't want a strict routine so felt Dr Spock's ideology would work best for the family. But baby Leon has different ideas early on – especially during the night.
Thirty-one-year-old Rebecca works in advertising in London and is mum to Lola. Rebecca chose Dr Spock as she didn't like the idea of a routine. But will Spock’s approach help her through the sometimes tiring and lonely job of being a single mum?
Alex (35) and Donald (34) have very active lives, enjoy being able to be spontaneous and didn't want to be tied to a schedule. Alex and Donald were attracted to the Continuum method for their baby Cameron because of the constant contact it provided in the early months. Alex is an instant convert but will straight-talking policeman Donald feel the same?
Grace (37) and Stuart (40)'s son Oliver – or Ollie – had a difficult birth and was eventually delivered after 30 hours by emergency caesarean. Grace is committed to living ethically and was absorbed by the idea of the Continuum Concept. But will Ollie's difficult birth and Grace's subsequent breast-feeding traumas deliver the blissed-out experience they're hoping for?
