Londonist is a website celebrating all aspects of the capital city, including the incredible heritage and history of the region. The V2 map was originally created in early 2009 out of frustration at a lack of available information about these early rocket weapons on the web. It was pieced together using a combination of official war damage reports and available eye-witness testimony. To get the most from the map, zoom in on a location and switch to satellite view – you can often see the area of devastation to this day, perhaps as an area of more recent housing or a gap in the treeline. Even the occasional crater can still be seen. After publication, the map attracted many comments from readers, including leads to many further impact sites. But many of the more than 1,000 strikes are still missing from the map (especially those outside London). If you have any additional information about impact sites, please contact tips@londonist.com, or leave a comment on this article below.
