While the West has turned its back on Miss World, India has excelled. In a seven-year period Miss India contestants have won six of the world's top beauty titles.
This success is no fluke. Every year, a group of the best-looking women are selected from 3,000 hopefuls to compete for the Miss India title, the vital first step on the road to global glory.
In the run-up to the competition, the contestants are closeted away from the outside world and taught how to behave like beauty queens. At camp Femina, 26 finalists are pushed to the limit by India's most demanding trainers over 40 days.
This programme provides a rare insight into the transformation from pretty young woman to beauty goddess, following the emotional highs and lows of the contestants, as well as the bitchiness and backstabbing that shows - in some cases - that beauty is only skin deep.
