Being N-Dubz: Tulisa

Friday 25 March 2011

Find out more about Tulisa, star of UK hip-hop trio N-Dubz.

Tula 'Tulisa' Contostavlos was born on 13 July 1988 in Camden, North London. Both of Tulisa's parents came from a musical background and no doubt influenced her choice of career.

An only child, Tulisa became a carer for her mother from an early age, a struggle documented in the revealing BBC documentary Tulisa: My Mum and Me. Having survived the toughest of childhoods, Tulisa found escape first as a solo artist, then alongside Dappy and Fazer in what was then called the Lickle Rinsers Crew, later to become N-Dubz. Together they would travel the road to superstardom from Camden Town by way of America and beyond...

Tulisa's unique voice has frequently been heard in the role of radio broadcaster, and she has also carved out a successful career as an actress, with roles in Channel 4's Dubplate Drama and the movies Bulla and Suicide Kids.

Tulisa is of Greek and Irish heritage.
