First Broadcast: 4.40AM Tue 9 March 2010

Alex Stobbs became an overnight phenomenon and shot to international prominence following the broadcast of the critically-acclaimed, award-winning 2008 documentary, A Boy Called Alex.

It told his inspirational story as an Eton music scholar suffering from the incurable disease cystic fibrosis. Immediately after transmission, offers of professional work flooded in, as did several marriage proposals.

One year on this Cutting Edge film follows Alex's dramatic and eventful transition from boy to man as a choral scholar at King's College, Cambridge, and a member of its world-famous choir.

Determined to live as normal a student life as possible, complete with girlfriends, late nights and major socialising, Alex is also set on fulfilling his life-long ambition: to conduct Bach's three hour masterpiece, the St Matthew Passion, with a professional orchestra and some of the country's top soloists. But by pushing himself to the limit, Alex risks getting an infection that could be his last.
