Andrew’s top 5 happy hair tips:
- Hair like skin needs moisture to maintain its vitality and therefore appear more youthful. Being religious with deep conditioning repair treatment masks at least once a week can make a huge difference to the sheen and quality of the hair. Quality is vital to easy styling and achieving the look you want so use Salon Professional product that have the benefit of being personally recommended for you.
- The right hairstyle can take years off and make someone look slimmer and taller…it's all about having a haircut that suits your body shape as well as your face shape. Generally as woman hit their 40’s they look better with a little more hair. That doesn’t mean to say you can' t have short hair, just that it should have movement, softness. Try to avoid sharp structural shapes as allowing a little length is very flattering.
- Hair definitely looses some of its lustre and density as we age, alarmingly this occurs from the mid 30’s. With this in mind, if you are going to wear your hair past shoulder length then make sure the cut has plenty of shape, good colour and a little bounce - avoid centre partings with hair hanging like a pair of curtains as this can be very ageing and only tends to work on little girls…
- Good grooming can take years off a woman or a man but wearing your hair fixed in place can be very ageing, like it belongs to a another decade. Use styling products to add body, texture, shine or hold but never so that the hair looks unnatural. A little kick or a bend in the hair can give the hair a natural tousled sexy look as opposed to having every hair appearing fixed into place.
- When using heat styling tools always use heat protection products, as this will create a barrier to the heat and avoid damage. There is nothing more ageing than weak and damaged hair.
