Introduction

[See Section 4 of the Code]

The following rules apply to religious programming only, that is any programme where religion is the main subject, or amounts to a significant part of it, which could include, but is not limited to current affairs, documentary or history programmes. It does not include comedy programmes or drama or general entertainment programmes which are clearly non-religious in nature.

Religion is central to many people's lives and is capable of arousing strong views and emotions. Accordingly, religious programming will always need careful and responsible handling.

Religious programmes should always be fair and accurate and the beliefs and practices of any religious groups featured must not be misrepresented or abused.

In addition, the following sub-chapter rules apply to religious programming.
