Unreported World
March
British television's only regular peak-time foreign affairs strand returns for a new series.
Unreported World's team of reporters travel to some of the most neglected parts of the planet speaking directly to people affected by issues such as land ownership and ritual abuse, and examining the tensions caused by the emerging global crisis over the supply and cost of food.
Some of the places previously featured include Darfur, Nicaragua, South Africa and Bangladesh. Unreported World offers viewers an insight into the daily reality for those whose lives are rarely glimpsed by the global news machine.
The programme reveals graphic footage from southern Thailand, where armed Islamists are killing pupils and teachers in their campaign against Buddhist schools in a horrific epidemic of violence. And the series also travels to Venezuela to report on clashes between 'Santeria' gangs in the slums of Caracas, and to Mexico, as the police and army attempt to retake territory from the drug cartels, with civilians caught in the crossfire.
