Plus One
January
After a successful pilot as part of last year's Comedy Showcase, Plus One returns as a series, following the mishaps of low-level music producer Rob Black (Daniel Mays).
Rob is struggling to restore his self-esteem after his girlfriend Linsey (Miranda Raison) has left him to marry Duncan from Blue (Duncan James). Having received an invitation to his ex's wedding, asking him to bring a 'plus one', Rob is on a mission to secure a beautiful girl to take to the ceremony, hoping he'll be able to get his own back by outshining the happy couple.
But even Rob's family and friends – brother Rich (Nigel Harman), best mate Paul (Steve John Shepherd), sister Rebecca (Ingrid Oliver) and long-suffering work colleague Laura (Ruth Bradley) – all doubt his pulling power. Throughout the series, with the wedding date fast approaching, Rob becomes increasingly desperate to attract a date. His quest knows no bounds, even if it means bribing a child to win a charity auction or being mistakenly branded 'the sickest man in Britain' by the press.
Plus One is written by Tim Allsop and Stewart Williams and includes cameo appearances from Jamelia, Lisa Snowdon and Steve Jones, all playing themselves.
