John Adams
John Adams is an epic seven part mini-series, based on the Pulitzer-prize winning book, charting the life story of John Adams, one of the most influential of the men who led the American Revolution, who went on to be elected the country's first Vice President and second President.
The historical drama tells the story of the foundation of America, as Adams authors the Declaration of Independence, and explores the extraordinary relationship between Adams and his wife of 54 years, Abigail, a partnership regarded as one of the most moving love stories in American history.
Paul Giamatti (Sideways, Cinderella Man) takes the title role, with Laura Linney (The Squid and the Whale) as his wife Abigail, alongside Tom Wilkinson (Michael Clayton) as Benjamin Franklin and Stephen Dillane (The Shooting of Thomas Hurndall) as Thomas Jefferson. The series also boasts Tom Hanks as executive producer and Tom Hooper (BAFTA-winning Longford and Elizabeth I) as director.
John Adams, which won a record 13 awards at the 2008 Emmy Awards, is both a biopic of this great historical figure and the story of the first 50 years of the United States.
