Films on Channel 4
It's a Dickens of a good Christmas on Channel 4, with four adaptations of two of his most famous works. Patrick Stewart plays Scrooge in the classic A Christmas Carol, while in Scrooged, an updated comedy version of the classic, Bill Murray plays a TV executive who is shown the error of his ways. And there's a chance to enjoy both David Lean and Roman Polanski's acclaimed versions of Oliver Twist.
There's comedy with all three of the Crocodile Dundee films, starring Paul Hogan, screening over the fortnight, plus A Knight's Tale, with the late Heath Ledger, and The Nutty Professor featuring Eddie Murphy in multiple roles. A double bill of John Wayne classics features Rio Grande and The Quiet Man.
And Channel 4 presents the network premieres of three outstanding European films; Michael Haneke's stunning, shocking drama Hidden; the whimsical kidnap caper The Edukators, and, from Romania, the acclaimed black comedy The Death of Mr Lazarescu.
