Blustery showers, south and west. Brighter in the east. A blustery day with showers spreading east throughout the day, locally prolonged in the west, some heavy and thundery with hail. A drier and brighter day is expected for eastern areas, with showers here more isolated. Heavy showers will continue in the west and along southern coasts. Drier and cooler overnight in the east. Strong westerly winds will continue near western coasts and hills. Remaining unsettled with scattered showers, some locally heavy, and bright spells. The best of these further east. West to northwest winds will ease but it will feel chilly. Severe Weather WarningFLASH WARNING of HEAVY RAINArgyll + Bute (Severe), Highland (Severe), Stirling (Severe) Issued by the Met Office at 08:31 on Wednesday, 25th November 2009. Outbreaks of heavy rain will affect will continue to affect parts of western and central Scotland through this morning and afternoon. Accumulations of 15mm or more are possible in a 3 hour period with local total accumulations of 30mm, perhaps 45mm over higher ground in the west. The rain will be accompanied by southwesterly winds with gusts around 60mph. The public are advised to take extra care and refer to the latest Scottish Environment Protection Agency "Live Flood Warning Information", and also to "Traffic Scotland" for further advice on road conditions.
