US big freeze in pictures

Icy, snow-covered roads and high winds make travel treacherous from the Dakotas to Michigan and Missouri as much of the United States braces for cold temperatures that could break records.

Bedford Park in the Bronx has recorded New York City’s highest ever snow total – 11.6 inches, according to the National Weather Service. Central Park (pictured above) recorded 6 inches.
